Dr Lockie holds position as a substantive NHS consultant cardiologist at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust, a large university teaching hospital in North London. He is one of the dedicated team of interventional cardiologists performing elective and emergency cases, including treating patients presenting with acute heart attacks and cardiac arrest. The Royal Free is one of eight specialised Heart Attack Centres in London providing round the clock care 24/7. Dr Lockie is the clinical lead for the cardiac catheterisation labs and is involved in developing new pathways and guidelines.
Dr Lockie undertakes regular clinics and ward rounds seeing general cardiology patients and also regularly performs pacemaker insertion.
He has responsibility in education and maintaining the institutional databases for heart attacks and PCI. He is a regional specialty advisor for the British Cardiac Society and the Royal College of Physicians, representing the North Central London region. He regularly teaches and lectures at conferences and seminars, including the international faculty of the European Society of Cardiology. He has recently been appointed as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Cardiovascular Institute, UCL.
In recognition of clinical and academic excellence Dr Lockie was recently elected as Fellow to the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).
